Hartlepool RNLI crews were called to search for a vulnerable person along the shoreline on Sunday. Both of the charity's lifeboats were involved in the search along the Heugh Breakwater.
A spokesperson for the Hartlepool RNLI said: "Following a request by Humber Coastguard both Hartlepool lifeboats with volunteer crew members were launched on Sunday, 16 November at 7pm to take part in a search for a vulnerable person. The search area was along the shoreline from the Heugh Breakwater at the Headland, Hartlepool to Steetley Pier.
"With nothing found both lifeboats were eventually stood down by the Coastguard at 8.40pm and they returned to the Ferry Road lifeboat station where they were refuelled and made ready for service by 9.15pm. Sea conditions at the time were described as moderate wit
