Robert Plant first howled for Vancouver fans on Dec. 28, 1968, when Led Zeppelin was one of the opening acts for U.S. heavy rock act Vanilla Fudge. Led Zeppelin was back headlining the PNE Agrodome on July 26, 1969.
Province Popscene writer Michael Quigley noted ‘the Led Zeppelin’ lead singer “soared up and down in contemporary soulful vocal cadenzas in the pieces, most of which were from the Zeppelin’s first album.” His review of the show concluded that Jimmy Page is “one of the few rock-blues guitar geniuses around.”
Jump ahead to 2025 and Page is nowhere to be seen in contemporary music, having chosen a reclusive retirement after a number of highly uninspired post-Zeppelin projects such as the Firm.
Plant is active as ever.
