Algoma Festival Choir is putting something new under the Christmas tree for concert-goers.
The group’s 40-plus members are moving their holiday show from their long-term home at Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre to The Machine Shop on Nov. 30. Start time is 2:30 p.m. That’s a change from the show’s usual evening start.
Director Stephen Mallinger has wanted to make the move to the Huron Street “for many years.”
Fantastic acoustics, a “great” piano, nearby eateries and plenty of parking all contributed to his decision to change locations after 26 years at the aviation museum.
Audience members backed the idea of an earlier start time when Mallinger sought their input at a spring show. “Just about everybody” raised when their hand when asked if they supported a matinee concert.
