In a development that has sparked global curiosity as well as scepticism, a Shenzhen-based biotechnology firm has claimed that humans could one day live up to 150 years. The assertion, made by Lonvi Biosciences in China, comes at a time when the average human lifespan hovers between 65- 70 years.

The company says it has developed what it describes as a “special longevity pill", designed to slow ageing and extend life by targeting senescent or so-called “zombie cells", ageing cells that stop dividing but continue to cause chronic inflammation in the body. These cells are widely associated with age-related decline, and scientists across the world have been studying ways to neutralise them.

According to Lonvi, the pill’s key component is Procyanidin C1 (PCC1), a grape seed-derived molecule.
