United States President Donald Trump has backflipped on calls to release government files about notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, declaring it was "time to move on".

President Trump had campaigned on the full release of the so-called Epstein files during the last presidential election, but subsequently backed away from that commitment.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi, under pressure from lawmakers - including Republicans - and the President's MAGA allies, did allow for the release of some additional materials, but critics said the disclosures were inadequate.
