Former state representative and radio talk show host John Loughlin is running for lieutenant governor as a Republican.
Loughlin, who narrowly lost a 2010 bid for Congress, announced on his WPRO radio show Nov. 15 that it would be his final broadcast and that he would be again running for office next year.
"As a lifelong Rhode Islander, an Iraq War veteran, and a former state representative, I’ve always felt a calling to serve," he said. "I want to transform this office − not just occupy it, but redefine it as a true, unwavering voice for all the people, not just political insiders. It’s time to shatter the status quo and confront the dismal state of governance in Rhode Island with the urgency it demands."
