Police lights

A 36-year-old Uber driver's simple request sent his passengers spiraling, and what was supposed to be a short trip got more tangled than the aux cord, police said.

The driver picked up a pair of riders from a Wilton home just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, police said.

The driver asked them to wear their seatbelts, but they refused — repeatedly. Reaching his limit, the driver pulled his car into the parking lot of Orem's Diner on Danbury Road and asked them to get out, Wilton police said.

That was another request they refused, as they instead demanded he drive them back home. The driver began to fear for his safety as the argument heated up, so he called 911, police said.

Anmol Virk, 42, didn't like that, a report said. Police say Virk began to curse the driver and grabbed him, refusing to let go until officers arrived.

Police arrested Virk for breach of peace. He didn't receive a free ride to jail, as police released him on a promise to appear, the report said.
