Thanksgiving travel in Michigan may set a new record this year, AAA-The Auto Club Group said Monday.

The group estimates 2.6 million state residents this year will travel at least 50 miles from home between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1 for the holiday, up 1.4 percent from 2024.

“Michigan residents are embracing the Thanksgiving spirit with record-breaking travel plans this year,” Debbie Haas, the insurance company’s vice president of travel, said in a statement. “Whether it’s driving across the state or flying across the country, people are making time to connect with loved ones. Even with concerns about flight cancellations, travelers are showing flexibility and resilience and relying most on driving.”
