A body found frozen on a glacier has been identified as a climber who disappeared in 1994.
According to police in Switzerland , climbers ascending the 13,330-foot Ober Gabelhorn in the Pennine Alps discovered the remains on Oct. 15. The mountain is a prized climb among enthusiasts with the first ascent dating back to 1865.
Officers reached the site by helicopter to collect the remains and personal items, and an investigation was opened.
The person was a Swiss citizen born in 1969, according to police, and was one of two climbers disappeared in the area on Nov. 4, 1994.
One of the individuals was found in 2000, police said.
“The discovery of the second mountaineer has now fully solved the mystery of their disappearance,” the statement said.
