HIGH POINT, N.C. — The City of High Point is warning residents of scammers impersonating a city inspector and going to businesses and residents and demanding payment to perform inspections.
The city stated inspectors with the city will never request or accept payment directly from business owners or residents for any inspection.
The city provided a list of questions to verify if someone is an inspector:

Ask for the inspector’s full name, City-issued identification badge, and the department they represent. Legitimate
City of High Point inspectors wear a City logo shirt and drive a vehicle clearly marked with the City logo.
What:
Ask what they are inspecting and why.
Inspectors should be able to reference a permit number, contractor name, or the purpose of their visit (such as
