MAYSLICK, Ky. (WSMV) - Two men are behind bars and accused of being behind a laser strike on Kentucky officials who were up in a helicopter searching for a missing child.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) say it happened two weeks ago while their crews were looking for an 11-year-old who was reported missing in Robertson County. In addition to the state investigation, KSP reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the November 3 incident.
“During the search for the juvenile, a KSP helicopter was subjected to multiple laser strikes near the Mayslick community in Mason County,” a press release from law enforcement said. “During the incident, the pilot and tactical flight officer were repeatedly struck by a laser beam directed at the aircraft from the ground.”
