LONG BEACH – A woman was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing a man during a dispute in Long Beach Sunday.

The man, who suffered a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body, was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Officers dispatched at about 2 a.m. Sunday to the 6000 block of Cherry Avenue contacted the victim prior to the arrival of paramedics. The woman remained at the scene as well, police said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a dispute that escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim,” according to a police statement. “The suspect was arrested and transported to the Long Beach City Jail.”
