LONG BEACH – A 37-year-old man suspected in the Long Beach death of a man whose body was found in the University Park area of Los Angeles was behind bars Friday.

Jose Raul Gonzalez, of Long Beach, was arrested Thursday in the 500 block of East 72nd Street and booked on suspicion of murder, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He was being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

Gonzalez is suspected in the death of a man whose body was found last Saturday in the 2600 block of South Maple Street in Los Angeles, police said. The Los Angeles Police Department initially investigated the case, but determined the crime had occurred in the city of Long Beach.

According to Long Beach police, the victim suffered from multiple unspecified injuries.
