WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - After three shootings within a week – one of them fatal – Waynesboro police and Burke County deputies are teaming up to keep the violence from spreading.
The latest shooting happened Sunday evening on A Street in Waynesboro . Three people were injured. It came after another shooting Wednesday on the same street .
And in between both of those shootings, a man was killed in a shooting Thursday that was part of an altercation at a convenience store at 740 E. Seventh St. The suspect in that shooting turned himself in hours later at the county jail.
In response, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and Waynesboro Police Department launched what they are calling “enhanced, proactive measures to restore safety and protect our community.”
