The status of starting quarterback Ashton Daniels is one of the biggest questions in the lead up to Auburn’s matchup with Mercer this weekend.
There were plans for Daniels to redshirt earlier this season, but began playing during Auburn’s win over Arkansas and has started the last two games. Now, Daniels can only play one more regular season game to retain his redshirt, and Auburn has two remaining.
That raised the question as to whether or not Daniels would sit out against Mercer so he could play against Alabama and keep his redshirt. Interim head coach DJ Durkin said on Monday that Daniels will not play on Saturday, meaning he can preserve his redshirt.
