A 19-year-old man has tragically died after being struck by a car on a major motorway .
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash near the M60 junction at Simister Island on Sunday evening. The incident, which cops believe may have happened after a police pursuit, led to the M66 being closed overnight.
Police have now confirmed that a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle which was travelling southbound on the M66 at around 9.40pm. Greater Manchester Police said he may have been in a car previously involved in a pursuit with patrol officers from the force.
