Where would the Eagles be without him?

Fangio’s defense is the top reason and, perhaps, only reason the Eagles are in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 seed in the NFC and the prospect of the Birds playing in their third Super Bowl in four years feels realistic despite the offense being in constant disarray.

I don’t care about the Buddy Ryan disciples. I know what Bud Carson did in 1991. I grew up in the Jim Johnson era. Fangio is, without argument, the greatest Eagles defensive mind of all time. What he did throughout last year’s regular season, what he did to Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl and what he continues to do now is unprecedented for a franchise that, up until not too long ago, was rather famous for never winning the big game.
