The St. Lawrence Woodcarvers Club is perhaps a quiet club; one can imagine carvers whittling away with meditative concentration. But it deserves a no-doubt-about-it big trumpet call of praise.
On Saturday afternoon, the club celebrated its 50th anniversary.

With self-recognition of its uniqueness, the club pulled out all the stops with a table rich in finger foods, tempting cookies and squares, plus a large, decorated cake, carved in luscious, sweet pieces and distributed to all.
The club has had a long evolution, with its beginnings slightly lost in the mist of time, but Mary Beckstead, who oversees the St. Lawrence Woodcarvers’ educational planning, and a member for over 20 years, was able to cite Ken Scanlon as a founding member with the club’s inception in 1975.
