EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. — The son of an elderly couple reportedly found shot to death in their Eureka Springs home has died after hanging himself in an Oklahoma jail cell, according to authorities.
In a statement on Nov. 17, Carroll County deputies identified 56-year-old Travis Lee McConnell as the suspect in the killings of his parents, 77-year-old Joy Bennett Willmeth and 71-year-old Robert Leo Willmeth.
Deputies discovered the couple shot to death during a welfare check on Nov. 14, CCSO said.
McConnell, who had been living with his parents, was not home when deputies responded to their residence. Arkansas State Police began investigating the double homicide.
