New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani signalled on Monday that he is ready to sit down with President Donald Trump, saying his team has already reached out to the White House and that he’ll make the trip to Washington if it helps ease the city’s affordability crisis. "I will go to make the case to the president," he said, stressing that he’s committed to meeting anyone and everyone if it benefits New Yorkers struggling with rising costs and shrinking support programs like SNAP.
On Sunday, President Donald Trump told reporters the incoming mayor had requested a meeting. "The mayor of New York, I will say, would like to meet with us and we’ll work something out," Trump said. "He would like to come to Washington and meet and we’ll work something out."
