A raid on the Pueblo of Isleta Reservation seized about 37,000 fentanyl pills valued at nearly $1.5 million, plus $37,877 in cash, a U.S. Department of the Interior news release said.
The joint operation was executed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Pueblo of Isleta Tribal Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Task Force.
Seven years ago, the Interior Department initiated an interagency opioid reduction task force to combat the distribution of illegal narcotics in and around Indian Country. That fight against drug trafficking organizations by the task force partners has increased, the release said.
