Thousands of fentanyl pills, estimated to be worth close to $1.5 million, were intercepted and seized on the Pueblo of Isleta, the U.S. Interior Department reported Monday.
The joint operation, conducted by the Pueblo of Isleta Tribal Police, the Bureau of Indian Affairs' Division of Drug Enforcement and the Homeland Security Task Force, resulted in the seizure of more than 37,000 fentanyl pills and more than $37,000 in cash, according to a Monday news release.
The Interior Department declined to answer additional questions. Isleta police did not immediately return a phone message from The New Mexican seeking comment.
