BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Southern University chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was suspended after women were made to perform jumping jacks and other physical exercises while trying out for the fraternity’s “Miss Black and Gold” pageant.

Documents obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM show that in early October women were instructed to meet off campus wearing all black clothing. The women were then told to perform jumping jacks and other exercises over long periods of time. The women were also told to learn and recite a poem and other information relevant to the fraternity, according to a university report.
