NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – An undocumented immigrant is in custody after she reportedly threw coffee at a mother, her child and their dog last week, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

In an arrest affidavit, deputies said they were called to Quail Ranch Road on Friday morning in reference to the attack.

Upon arrival, deputies said they learned that the mother and her infant son had been walking the dog earlier that morning, when they approached a house with another woman and dog.

“At this time, (the mother’s) dog was not on a leash and was following closely alongside (the mother and son),” the affidavit reads.

However, the other woman — identified as Nina Jaaskelainen, 54 — allegedly began yelling at the mother to put her dog on a leash, deputies added.
