DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A citizen who purchased a storage unit at auction discovered illegal narcotics and contacted the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on November 11, leading to Colorado's largest fentanyl seizure, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies seized 198 kilograms of counterfeit fentanyl pills — approximately 1.7 million pills — along with 12 kilograms of fentanyl powder and 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine, officials said.

"I want to thank the citizen who reported this discovery," Sheriff Darren Weekly said. "Let me send a strong and unmistakable message: fentanyl and illegal narcotics will not be tolerated in Douglas County."

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office worked with the DEA and Colorado Bureau of Investigation to process the seizure. No arrests have been announced
