TOLEDO, Ohio —
The Trump administration is working on a mortgage plan that would last 50 years, with the president saying it could provide an option to make home ownership more affordable.
Toledo residents said taking on a 50-year mortgage doesn't make owning a home more appealing. If anything, they said it makes the thought scarier.
When asked if he ever thinks he will own a home, Grahame Johnson, a University of Toledo freshman, said, "absolutely not."
"The housing market today is just too expensive for people like me," Johnson said. "Where it's very hard for us to actually find a home that is affordable for us."
Owning a home seems daunting for other younger people, too.
