Youths sprayed noxious substance at the Genesis Centre in Falconridge on Monday afternoon

City police have detained two people after bear spray was discharged at a northeast recreation centre Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the Genesis Centre, at 755 Falonridge Blvd. N.E., at around 4 p.m. after reports a debilitating agent had been sprayed by a group of youths.

“ At this point, it is unclear if this was a targeted incident,” police said in a dispatch.

“Three victims have been located and their injuries are believed to be minor, pending EMS arrival and assessment.”

As of late afternoon, police said they were still investigating the incident which occurred a few days after a similar one nearby.
