INDIANAPOLIS — Chrastine Mina’s neighborhood near Union and Adler streets is always filled with cats running around. She describes it as a place where neighbors look after one another and their properties.
There’s one property on the street, though, that’s an eyesore. The vacant home on Union and Adler is in a state of disrepair. Holes are everywhere, siding isn’t on the walls, the chimney looks like it could fall at any moment and brick and mortar are missing from the foundation of the home where it meets the ground.
Last year, Mina recalled taking care of the yard.
“It gets just hugely overgrown in the summertime, and then you have rats and raccoons and possums,” she said. “It’s an eyesore, and if you look at the rest of this neighborhood, it’s just beautiful.”
