CLEVELAND — As Cleveland Browns legend Bernie Kosar recovers from liver transplant surgery Monday morning, local transplant recipients and donors are sharing their experiences to help people understand what lies ahead for the beloved quarterback.

Teachers Know the Journey Firsthand

Two North Ridgeville teachers featured in a Heartstrings story earlier this year know exactly what Bernie is going through.

Three years ago, Julie Bugala was fighting for her life with liver failure. Her best friend and fellow teacher, Lucha Swindig, donated 60% of her liver to save Julie's life. That surgery happened on April 14.
