REDGRANITE, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin DNR has confirmed an ATV driving through dry marsh lands caused the 400-acre wildfire west of Redgranite on Sunday. On Monday night, that fire was 99 percent contained.
A majority of the state is in the “high” fire danger category on Monday, including the southern part of Northeast Wisconsin, because of the dry conditions.
“It was a very emotional day. It still is. It’s raw,” said Gwen Drolshagen.
It was a chaotic day for Gwen Drolshagen, who was told to evacuate her home late Sunday morning. She was forced to grab only what she could, including one priceless photo: a wedding photo of her great grandmother and great grandfather.
