COLUMBUS, Ohio — The murder trial of Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb entered its sixth day Monday, as jurors heard testimony from a use-of-force expert called by the defense.
Grubb faces charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault in the August 2023 shooting of Ta’Kiya Young in a Kroger parking lot. Young was fatally shot as her vehicle moved forward while Grubb stood in front of it.
Kevin Davis, a retired Akron police officer and use-of-force expert, was the defense’s 16th witness. Davis testified that Grubb was justified in using deadly force because he feared he would be seriously injured or killed by Young’s moving car.
Davis reiterated that he believed Grubb faced an imminent threat.
“This was an actual and ongoing threat,” he said. When asked
