John Boyega has three conditions for returning to the Star Wars franchise. Boyega played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy movies . He has spoken about the racism he experienced from certain corners of the fandom, along with creative choices for his character that he disagreed with, particularly in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker .

With Rey (Daisy Ridley) returning in an upcoming Star Wars movie set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker , there has been speculation about whether Boyega could reprise the role of Finn as well. More recently, news of the scrapped Hunt for Ben Solo movie has led to fan campaigns to revive the project, and more speculation about the future of sequel trilogy-era characters.
