LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A former paint and varnish manufacturing building in Portland's warehouse district is being transformed into 138 affordable apartments with 200,000 square feet of retail space, marking the second major housing development in a growing neighborhood.

Liminal Louisville, located at 15th and Lytle streets, will preserve the early 1900s building's industrial character while creating affordable housing, according to developers.

Tenants are expected to move in during early 2027.

"These buildings really speak together. There is cobblestone streets," said developer Kappie Farrington. "Give it a couple of years, and this neighborhood is going to feel really different,"
