An investigation is underway following the sexual assault of a woman aged in her 80s at a park in NSW's Hunter region.
Police were informed that at around 7.20pm, the woman was walking in Brooklyn Park between Kilkenny Circuit and Chelmford Drive at Ashtonfield, when she was knocked to the ground by a man who attempted to sexually assault the woman.
The man left the park on a push scooter, and the woman contacted a family member who later alerted police.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Local detectives have begun investigating the incident and have released a description of a teenage boy they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.
He is described as being in his mid-to-late teens and having a dark complexion, wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.
