Police have launched a investigation after a woman aged in her 80s was sexually assaulted in Maitland last night.
The woman was walking in Brooklyn Park, between Kilkenny Circuit and Chelmsford Drive at Ashtonfield, about 7.20pm on November 17, when a male allegedly knocked her to the ground and attempted the assault.
The male fled the park immediately following the attack.
The woman contacted a family member who alerted police.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Maitland detectives, now assisted by the State Crime Command's sex crimes squad, have commenced extensive inquiries under Strike Force Bosgar.
Police have released a description of a teenage boy they believe can assist with their investigation.
