CINCINNATI, Ohio — Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was caught on camera spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during the fourth quarter of Cincinnati’s 34-12 loss in Pittsburgh.

Chase declined to speak to reporters during Monday’s open locker room.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor didn’t hesitate to stand firmly behind his star receiver while addressing media questions head-on during Monday’s press conference.

“Obviously, what happened is crossing the line. We can’t have that. And I know he’ll own up to that,” Taylor admitted to reporters, directly addressing the incident that has drawn national criticism. “But beyond that, I’ve always sat up here and praised Ja’Marr because he’s one of the best leaders we’ve got.”
