Two young bushwalkers trapped high on Mount Anne have been rescued from the remote Tasmanian mountain after brutal conditions initially hindered both air and ground rescue attempts.
The alarm was raised about 6.20pm on Monday when the pair, aged 22 and 23, called Triple Zero after conditions suddenly deteriorated in the island state's Southwest National Park.
What began as a routine hike quickly turned into a dangerous situation as cloud rolled in, temperatures plunged, and the track became too treacherous to continue.
