WILMINGTON — The Fairmont girls basketball team took a 39-17 setback in Monday’s nonconference game at Hoggard.

Hoggard (1-0) led 17-1 at the end of the first quarter, 22-6 at halftime and 31-10 at the end of the third quarter.

Lyric McNair scored eight points to lead Fairmont (1-1). Laila Grady and Kimayah Smith each had 10 rebounds.

Fairmont hosts Purnell Swett on Tuesday.
