PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking public input ahead of a proposed deep drawdown of Detroit Lake and a potential end to hydropower production in the Willamette Valley.

The proposed actions come from a draft of the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS), which builds upon the Willamette Valley System Operations and Maintenance Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) completed in April - the first environmental study of the Willamette Valley dam system since 1980.

New federal requirements regarding endangered fish and hydropower production emerged shortly before the FEIS was finalized, for which the SEIS addresses.
