Alan Carr is weighing in on rumours that he’s in consideration to take over as the new host of Strictly Come Dancing .

Following his scene-stealing appearance on The Celebrity Traitors , which he eventually went on to win, it was reported by the Daily Mail that the comedian was “ among the contenders to become the next host of Strictly Come Dancing”.

It comes after current hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they would be stepping down at the end of this season.

During a recent interview with Radio Times , Alan was asked for his take on the speculation, insisting that while it was “an honour” to have read that “ apparently my name is in the hat”, he hadn’t yet “spoken to anyone at the BBC”.
