HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a fire set earlier this month in Holyoke’s Oakdale neighborhood.
Anthony Ortiz Correia, 40, and Naysha Merced Gonzalez, 42, were charged with burning a dwelling, attempted murder and causing injury to a firefighter in the line of duty for allegedly setting the Nov. 4 fire at 268 Pine St.
Both were also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, trafficking in a Class B substance and related offenses after police recovered a handgun and cocaine during their arrest.
An investigation by Holyoke police, the Holyoke Fire Department and state police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office determined the early morning fire was intentionally set.
