Nearly 82 million Americans are expected to travel for Thanksgiving next week, most of them by car and some by air, according to figures released Monday by the travel club AAA.
But the prospect of air travel could pose a headache for millions of Americans, after the Federal Aviation Administration only yesterday morning lifted restrictions at 40 major airports — including Newark Liberty International Airport — on Nov. 17 after a 41-day federal government shutdown.
Drivers could expect to pay just a few pennies more at the gas pump this year, AAA spokesperson Tracy Nobile said.
According to FlightAware.com , there was one cancellation so far on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Newark Airport. There were six cancellations on Monday, 20 on Sunday and 31 on Saturday.
