Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley was arrested on a charge of felony assault on Friday in Texas.
Beverley, 37, was arrested in Rosharon, Texas, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. According to court documents, he is accused of assaulting a family or household member in a way that impedes breathing or circulation, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Beverley was booked in Fort Bend County Jail and was later released after he posted $40,000 bail.
The NBA veteran issued a statement on Friday saying “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet,” he wrote in a post to X .
Beverley’s attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, also issued a statement on his arrest, saying the incident occurred after he “unexpectedly” found his younger sister, a minor, alone at home with an
