QUEBEC — The provincial Liberals were in crisis management Tuesday following the sudden departure of parliamentary leader Marwah Rizqy’s chief of staff, a close associate of new party leader Pablo Rodriguez .
The firing of Geneviève Hinse was announced to the Liberals on Monday in a short, dry email. No explantation was offered.
“We would like to inform you that Mme. Geneviève Hinse, chief of staff, is no longer employed as chief of staff of the leader of the official opposition and this as of now,” said the email first obtained by the Journal de Montréal and confirmed by The Gazette on Tuesday.
The departure of Hinse, who was chief of staff to Rodiguez when he was a federal politician and followed him into provincial politics, took the party by surprise.
