BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

Alabama Public Television (APT) will keep its partnership with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), at least for a few months.

The Alabama Educational Television Commission voted on Tuesday to temporarily continue paying for its membership with PBS. It will continue paying for the term of the current contract, which is through June.

Some on the commission were concerned about the affordability of the nearly $2 million annual cost of being a PBS member. Others said the concern is more about a perceived bias in PBS news programming.

The commission also voted to create a committee to look into how to fulfill requests in a letter sent by Gov. Kay Ivey .
