An East Bay couple is seeking justice after their beloved rescue dog was attacked and killed by a pack of three loose dogs.
Jim Thomson and Benji, a small 10-year-old Yorkie, were walking on Ridgewood Court in Antioch when the three dogs came out of nowhere.
“It was a sneak attack,” Candy Thomson said. “They came up behind and just encircled both of them.”
Benji was rushed to a nearby veterinary hospital, but with punctured lungs, broken ribs and other internal injuries, they were unable to save him.
“I don’t even ever think I would ever find another dog like him,” Candy said. “At this point, I don’t know that I ever want a dog just because it’s so painful.”
Jim took a bad fall trying to rescue Benji and broke his arm.
