Police in Nottingham are appealing for public assistance in identifying four young individuals involved in a disturbing incident on Sunday evening. The confrontation, which occurred near Winter Wonderland, saw two of the youths brandishing machetes in front of bystanders, including families with children. The incident unfolded around 6.15pm outside the Council House in Old Market Square. Officers responded promptly after receiving reports of the altercation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and while several individuals were searched at the scene, the suspects had already fled. In light of the seriousness of the situation, Nottinghamshire Police have released CCTV images of the suspects and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Chief Superintendent Nick Waldram condemned the behaviour, stating, "This type of despicable behaviour has absolutely no place in our city and, rest assured, we will leave no stone unturned until they are in our custody." Waldram emphasised the police's commitment to using all available resources to apprehend those responsible. He noted, "No one should have to go into the city and experience this shameful and dangerous behaviour." The Chief Superintendent also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the police to remove weapons from the streets and educate young people about the dangers of carrying them. He remarked, "This flies in the face of all the good work we are doing and damages our city's reputation." The police have established a dedicated team to investigate the incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information regarding the identities of the individuals involved. Waldram concluded by reiterating the importance of community cooperation in tackling such issues, stating, "We are working every day to remove weapons from our streets and also to educate young people about the dangers of carrying them." The police are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident or the suspects to contact them as they continue their investigation.
