NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police are looking for more information after an 8-year-old was hit by an SUV on Monday afternoon.
Police said they were called to the intersection of 28th Street and Orcutt Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Their investigation revealed the 8-year-old boy was crossing Orcutt Avenue at the crosswalk when an SUV heading west on 28th Street struck him. Police said the driver did not stop after the crash and was not on the scene when officers arrived.
The boy was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said. They said he is in serious but stable condition.
