Brian Baker, a 41-year-old Livingston police officer died Saturday, Nov. 15, according to his obituary from the Madison Memorial Home website.
Baker spent 20 years in law enforcement, beginning his career with the Passaic County Sheriff's Office before joining the Livingston Police Department in 2012, the Livingston PBA said.
"He was not only a trusted officer, but a respected colleague and friend whose presence made our law-enforcement family stronger," the Livingston PBA wrote. "Brian was a great man.."
Brian is survived by his wife, Jaclyn, and his two children, Nicolas, 7, and Owen, 5.
A fundraiser has been established to support Jaclyn and her two children following Baker's passing.
"Being a dad was his greatest joy, and his love for his family was at the center of everything he did," his brother-in-law Michael Deangelis said. "Our hope is to help ease some of the financial burden and make sure the boys continue to have every opportunity Brian dreamed of for them."
As of Tuesday, Nov. 18, more than $15,000 has been raised.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home and a funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Florham Park, according to his obituary. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
