Pete Johnston came close to “Jeopardy!” glory once, but now the Michigan State University professor and Alma native will get another shot.
Johnston, 41, was asked to return to the game show after a strong performance in the game that aired on July 15, according to a news release from Alma College.
The Lansing-based film studies professor finished with $28,201 but lost to super-champion Scott Riccardi.
Johnston will now compete in the 2025 Second Chance Tournament, game show officials announced.
The Second Chance Tournament will be played for three weeks starting Dec. 15.
The winners each week advance to a Champions Wildcard for a chance to play in the 2026 Tournament of Champions. Ken Jennings will host the tournament.
Johnston previously said competing on the game show was a dream
